  1. QUOTE (PJM_labview @ Mar 26 2008, 05:13 PM) Sorry mate, but I think you just answered your own question.
  2. QUOTE (PJM_labview @ Mar 26 2008, 12:57 PM) No worries - it's a pretty grotty way of doing things, but I can't think of any other way that would work.

  5. QUOTE (PJM_labview @ Mar 26 2008, 03:24 AM) This is a kludge (I know it's not what you want, but it's something that actually worked pretty well for an old project of mine): Open a reference to the VI that you want to get the data from, then read it's "VI Description" (it's a the text from the VI documentation), then feed that into the "Description" of the FP node that the mouse if over - the context help window will update with the new description of the FP node. (I *think* I had to do this on a "Mouse Move" event to make sure the context help window updated, but I don't remember...) Hey - I warned you that it was a kludge

  17. I'd like to nominate Jim Kring for a (IMHO long overdue) TALM award. Jim's personal dedication to the LabVIEW community is truly wonderful: Jim and his team has put huge effort into true component-based development environment configuration management with their VI Package Manager Jim works tirelessly (and tiredly ) on the 3rd edition of the highly successful LabVIEW bible: LabVIEW for Everyone Jim continues to drive the LabVIEW open source community - something that has become second nature to many of us here at LAVA IMHO, Jim has probably the highest SNR ratio in his posts here on LAVA (and one of the highest number of posts too). His posts are insightful, well thought-out, and presented with a true knack of helping us all understand what are often complex concepts. There's always something to learn from a Jim Kring post - even if you don't realize it at the time...
  18. QUOTE (B Chavez @ Mar 20 2008, 11:38 AM) Of course! Thanks to everyone for their ideas

  21. Tell me I'm going crazy: have a look at the attached VI. It's purpose to to warn the user that an error has occured, and require a password to continue. I created the attached VI (it's not complete) with an event structure in it. OK - so I'm having two issues: If you enter a password and the press "enter", then the value present at "Entered Password" is the value on the previous loop. For example: the first time you run it, enter "test1" in the password field and press enter. When the event fires, the value read from the password field will be "". Now, type "test2" in the password field and press enter. When the event fires, the value read from the password field with be "test1". (note: this problem does not occur if you click the "continue" button - only if you press "enter" which is bound to teh "continue" button through key navigation. OK - now enter "fred" (that's the correct default password) and press "continue" - you get "Incorrect Password". Go ahead and press "continue" again - voila! Correct password and all is well. The "key focus" property in the loop doesn't always work - sometimes it does, other times it doesn't. I think this maybe because it tries to set the focus to this control while the "Incorrect Password" dialog is still active? Are these both cases of LabVIEW getting ahead of itself, or am I missing something? (I am feeling a wee bit weary at the moment, so I'm hoping it's something obvious I've missed... )
  22. QUOTE (Tomi Maila @ Mar 18 2008, 08:54 AM) Welcome ExpressionFlow Fourms! Congrats Tomi - great to have the forums here as an affiliate of LAVA.
  23. QUOTE (Michael_Aivaliotis @ Mar 19 2008, 03:50 PM) My thoughts http://forums.lavag.org/New-LabVIEW-online-ressource-t10119.html&view=findpost&p=41577' target="_blank">here. I figure I must really misunderstand the motivation for this new forum, because I don't understand it at all.
  24. QUOTE (Michael_Aivaliotis @ Mar 19 2008, 11:44 AM) Meh - I know I'm only speaking for myself, but I'm not too concerned (yes, I had a high score or two in there). Now if you reset my post count I might be a little upset
