  1. QUOTE(TiT @ May 21 2007, 12:19 AM) *sigh* that was what http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?s=&showtopic=8017&view=findpost&p=30213' target="_blank">this post was referring to.
  2. There's a bunch of emoticons on this IP.board (some of them we have come up with ourselves in parallel)
  3. QUOTE(alfa @ May 21 2007, 09:05 PM)
  4. QUOTE(TiT @ May 18 2007, 02:06 AM) I'll be sending out an invitation to all LAVA and OpenG folks - we do need to know numbers so we can make sure we fit in the resturant, but there'll be room for everyone!
  5. QUOTE(JasonKing @ May 18 2007, 12:58 AM) ...but you're not leaving us, right? The only thing that will change is the disappearance of the NI logo next to your name, right? QUOTE(JasonKing @ May 18 2007, 12:58 AM) I hope to drop in on the LAVA bbq if it's happening... Sure: if there's enough demand on this thread... Oh, and good luck in the new job mate
  6. QUOTE(BobHamburger @ May 17 2007, 01:25 PM) That's a most excellent point: don't be extreme and think that having just an NI certification and nothing else will get you a job. We (generally speaking) hire only experienced LabVIEW programmers, and whilst a certification is a plus, there's plenty more hoops you need to jump through, including in-house exams.
  7. Have a read of the thread over here - it's a good read.
  8. QUOTE(Gary Rubin @ May 17 2007, 04:08 AM) Note to V I Engineering staff: don't even think about it! You know who you are, and if you do it, I will remember it come performance evaluation time.
  9. QUOTE(lavezza @ May 17 2007, 04:48 AM) Fight! Fight! Fight!
  10. QUOTE(eaolson @ May 17 2007, 05:20 AM) Sure you did (actually, I believe you: I did a search on "CLD worth" - the results are similar to what you want for the CLAD).
  11. QUOTE(eaolson @ May 17 2007, 04:23 AM) This has been discussed http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?showtopic=3709' target="_blank">here.
  12. QUOTE(Bryan @ May 17 2007, 02:41 AM) I really can't go into details, but let's just say that the CLA isn't just about technical ability - it's about design and management philosophy too. Actually, a good place to start is to do the http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/202648' target="_blank">LabVIEW Advanced I: Architectures course - although it must have changed a fair bit since the original V I Engineering version, as it's been shrunk to 3 days...
  13. QUOTE(i2dx @ May 17 2007, 01:25 AM) If only I hadn't signed that NDA... If your job has you working as a LabVIEW architect and you mentor several people in your team, then you'll do fine. It's a relatively nembulous exam, so I don't know how much more I can say that will be useful...
  14. QUOTE(BrokenArrow @ May 16 2007, 02:46 AM) I know - I'm laughing with you Hey - why aren't you laughing?
  15. QUOTE(beckerg @ May 16 2007, 01:22 AM) What do you mean by "crashing"? You should be able to right click on the wire and select custom probe and the choose the type you need: http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5874''>http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5874'>http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5874
  16. QUOTE(VDB @ May 15 2007, 11:54 PM) Even better than my suggestion!
  17. QUOTE "write only" variables: that's so tragic it's funny, but then again, not too funny, but so not too funny that it's really funny...
  18. QUOTE(beckerg @ May 15 2007, 10:47 PM) I'm not 100% sure, but I'm going to say that it means that the probe can't probe. For example, if you probe a wire, and then delete a section of that wire, the wire becomes broken and subsequently the probe goes gray: it cant read the data because it doesn't know the datatype. I figure in this instance, there isn't a working probe for scale names - maybe you could make one in the form of a custom probe using a scale property node to get the description? (the "name" isn't a valid property) Try putting the code in the red box into a custom probe: http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5870''>http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5870'>http://forums.lavag.org/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=5870
  19. QUOTE(alfa @ May 15 2007, 11:01 PM) I'm not sure you'll find what you're looking for on this website, but there are plenty more out there that might show you their muscles
  20. QUOTE(Jim Kring @ May 15 2007, 11:59 AM) ...and?
  21. QUOTE(BrokenArrow @ May 15 2007, 11:34 AM) Sounds like the beginning of a beautiful wiki article Actually, I wonder if you could script something like this, and have it autogenerate a BD with a crap-load of property nodes on it and the text from each node's help underneath it...
  22. QUOTE(orko @ May 15 2007, 05:37 AM) A most excellent question: I've created a poll over http://forums.lavag.org/Certification-Attempts-t7926.html' target="_blank">here.
  23. This is a poll created to support this thread.
  24. QUOTE(balendran bala @ May 15 2007, 06:40 AM) No worries - anytime!
