ASTDan
I can't get to the bug fixes page? http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch...625745D0048CDAF I am assuming this will get unlocked next week. Dan Quote Link to comment
David Wisti
In the upgrade notes I noticed the following: Queue Operations Function The Queue Operations palette includes the following new function: • Lossy Enqueue Element Quote Link to comment
JDave
I looked at the upgrade notes, and not having done any beta testing I was quite happy to see a few upgrades that will be nice for me. Updating properties of multiple items at once (though this wasn't too much of a surprise, given various hints) Quick Drop for keyboard shortcuts to palette items (look familiar, Yair?) and the Tunnel Wiring Wizard ! built into LabVIEW Quote Link to comment

viSci
Anybody know if the new RT I/O variables will have an API associated with them to allow programmatic access by name? Quote Link to comment
David Wisti
QUOTE (Phillip Brooks @ Aug 1 2008, 02:16 PM) Wishes sometimes really do come true! (October 2006)Thank you, Aristos! I can't wait to start using these lossy queues. I've been using Shared Variables as lossy queues but there is no way to preview or know how many elements are in a shared variables queues. Norm Kirchner
Has anyone seen if you can now work/develop with an XControl even if it's loaded on a front panel? Quote Link to comment

How does it differ from a regular queue? Thanks, Derek Quote Link to comment
LAVA 1.0 Content
QUOTE (DerekLV @ Aug 1 2008, 04:17 PM) Forgive my ignorance, but what's a lossy queue? How does it differ from a regular queue? Thanks, Derek Its a queue that is not guarenteed to delivery everything that was posted. It works like a conveyor belt with a bucket at the end. If a worker does not pick-up the widget when the belt shifts for the next new widget added, the oldest drops off into the bit-bucket. Ben Quote Link to comment
Aristos Queue
QUOTE (Norm Kirchner @ Aug 1 2008, 02:56 PM) Has anyone seen if you can now work/develop with an XControl even if it's loaded on a front panel? You already can. Pop up on the XControl in the project tree and unlock it. When done editing, pop up and apply changes. This was possible since at least 8.2 and I think it was in 8.0 when XControls originally released. (I wouldn't know... I really didn't use 8.0... 8.2 was a bit more important to me... you can guess why...).QUOTE (Phillip Brooks @ Aug 1 2008, 01:16 PM) Thank you, Aristos! You're welcome. Oh... and check out the Notifier functionality at the same time... another wish granted. Quote Link to comment
Mark Balla
QUOTE (Norm Kirchner @ Aug 1 2008, 02:56 PM) Has anyone seen if you can now work/develop with an XControl even if it's loaded on a front panel? You can do this currently in 8.5 from the project tree. Your Xcontrol will look like this when you are editing When you are done go back and apply changes Quote Link to comment
Norm Kirchner
Suppose I should start using 8.5..... Quote Link to comment
jgcode
The new of ability of the **NEW** web service looks fantastic and finally no run-time.... With the new LabVIEW Web server, you can deploy VIs as Web services, which you invoke via a request from a client using standard HTTP. Unlike options such as LabVIEW remote panels and shared variables, the clients you build to communicate with a deployed VI do not require the LabVIEW run-time engine, which means you can use any Web-based client technology, including common languages such as HTML, JavaScript, and Adobe Flash. This all helps with integration into existing systems using NI hardware... Good one! Can't wait to try it! [JG starts counting down the days until DevSuite arrives] Quote Link to comment
