  1. Here is a link to a thread on this topic that you may like to read: http://lavag.org/topic/14759-can-i-override-private-data/
  2. Finally! (I only tweeted this a year ago )
  3. Hi Lewis Yes, that is how the framework essentially works You could call the Preference Pages in your own subpanel (they are just VIs) - but you would have to handle the synchronization built into the Engine/Page VIs tho AppVars is a Global Variable, a Global Variable does not have a block diagram The Global Variables are used for Application Variables in the example only - you can change this to whatever you like. However, I prefer Globals over constants for this use case so I can edit them all in one location when developing e.g. AppVars.vi)
  4. lol. Great job. They don't normally check but I have been done once for overweight carry-on - they made me weigh the bag and then made me check it in I was screwed from the start as my laptop was an old, big, heavy Dell P4 and it weighed pretty much the limit I didn't feel that bad putting it in the hold tho, as it was a work PC Mental note: do not upset Asbo at LAVA BBQ
  5. Condolences Cat Great to see you back on the forums and hear that you are well
  6. I have to check bags every single week, the only thing I find is a pain is that the taxi line's a little longer However, being able to pack enough stuff for 4-5 days (NI Week) into carry-on size luggage is commendable
  7. Sure you can't take a knife in your carry on, but are you saying you could not put it in the hold? What airline has that rule?
  8. Thanks for the kind words mate! I'll make it 4 hugs so the dog doesn't feel left out
  9. 8.6 was (is) good - 2009 was just better (lighter-weight and some handy new features) lol - I agree
  10. Ok, this has been closed off -> feel free to jump up and grab the mic tonight if you haven't submitted a blurb by now. Thanks to all the LAVA peeps for your kind donations
  11. This change happened in 2011 complimenting the new Silver Controls Subtle change - but looks cool IMO
  12. Not long now - get those blurbs in! Remember to write it exactly how you want it read out -> e.g. write it in the third person etc...
  13. And don't worry - we have enough prizes to match these numbers!
  14. OpenG scripts polymorphic VIs for the Array package So you might like to check out the polymorphizer tool I haven't looked at in detail for a while but I always thought that it might make a good stand alone tool (at the moment it is just an internal one) Of course, for the right use case, it would be great to move away from polymorphic VIs in the future and onto generic code aka like this
  15. Just to confirm -> that's Tuesday morning Crelf time, not JG time.
  16. Represent! Stunt around NI Week in this year's hottest fashion straight from the runways of Zazzle in your very own LAVA Tee! I will be throwing in 4 Tees (designed in-house by our very own Vugie) for this year's BBQ What's cooler than a hot LAVA flow? A hot LAVA data-flow, fo course! Be instantly recognised as part of the LAVA community by sporting this stylish flow of nodes, complete with all of your favourite datatypes! (Tee style may vary) Thanks to crelf for helping me organize this
  17. I am really interested in this topic too and there are a few good threads floating around on LAVA worth searching for I want each Object to handle this function for themselves for reuse purposes I like to do it in most cases as per this example here
  18. Archetype and gentlemen, ShaunR is very excited to be donating 1 x 5-User-License for LabVIEW Tools' Websocket API! The API is supplied with everything you need to get you started creating spectacular interactive browser interfaces for LabVIEW. That's awesome! Thanks for supporting the LabVIEW Community Shaun
  19. Grant Heimbach (aka G-Money) from the NI LabVIEW team has organised the following prizes! LabVIEW mousepad, very nice polo shirt, coffee mug, pocket protector, screwdriver and also a USB-6009 Sweet!
  20. This is a concern I share as well I append a __<insert company name> tag to the end of the Class/Library name for reuse code (packaged using VIPM also) - I am pretty confident that this avoids collisions from other companies
  21. Jonah Paul (Product Manager for LabVIEW RT/FPGA) is very excited to be attending the BBQ and giving away a brand new LabVIEW RIO Evaluation Kit! HW geeks - tell me you're not drooling - I am
  22. I concur that this is a very good quality video and recommend those interested watch it too
