  3. For the 2015 LAVA BBQ, Delacor have teamed up with author, friend of Delacor and all round outstanding guy; Steve Watts at SSDC to offer a truly unique door prize. Steve has kindly signed a copy of his book "A Software Engineering Approach to LabVIEW" but not only that. Steve has included the draft / amended pages that would have gone into any potential future second edition of his book. These are the only copies of these pages anywhere in the world and you as a LAVA member can have a chance to win them (and the signed book itself)

  4. Hi LAVA friends, We are pleased to announce that the Delacor Queued Message Handler (DQMH) is now available via the LabVIEW Tools Network: http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/213286 You can read about the thought process behind DQMH at our blog post: Ours is not better than yours (or YAF=Yet Another Framework) at WalkingTheWires.com The DQMH is based on the NI QMH Project Template. The DQMH expands on the NI QMH by providing safe, event-based message handling and scripting tools to encourage same style between different developers in the same project and improve efficiency. The DQMH is ideal for applications where multiple modules must run in parallel, possibly at different rates, while communicating with each other. The DQMH can also be used for applications that have a single module, where the developer would benefit from having a Tester with the capability of eavesdropping on the different DQMH events and messages. The DQMH integrates with TestStand since all development and troubleshooting can take place under LabVIEW, while calling the public API VIs as individual steps in the TestStand sequence. The tester can eavesdrop during the execution of the TestStand sequence. This is specially useful when the LabVIEW code is written during the research and development or prototyping phase, because the same code can be called by TestStand in production or manufacturing sequences without any changes. The DQMH uses LVOOP for some internal functions, but developers need not be familiar with LVOOP to use or understand this architecture. Try it out and let's us know what you think. Fab and the Delacor team.

  6. Let's get a list of who's presenting what at NIWeek so that we don't have to rifle through the agenda to figure out whats actually worth going to!!! I've got 2 on alliance day (Monday) He Chose.....Wisely; Picking the right RF Software for your next RF Opportunity (2:30PM room 15) You can pick your customers, You can pick your SpecAn, but you can't pick your customers SpecAn (3:30 room 15) [specAn is a spectrum analyzer fwiw] For those of you a bit leery of an RF-centric presentation, consider that I usually hear this at least once after presenting; "that was very entertaining...I'm not sure if I understood it all...but it was entertaining" Looking forward to entertaining you all ~,~ The Captain Was Here....and will be there too. aka Norm Kirchner

  8. Sorta. Mark does this out of the kindness of his heart, and his enthusiasm for the community. Things happen and he might not be able to record a session, or the camera might break, or a presenter might ask him not to. There are reasons Mark might not be able to record and upload the sessions and I think having him publicly state which sessions he is going to attend might be unfair to him. That being said I sure hope Mark is able to record some of the sessions I can't go to. As usual there are a bit too many I want to go to on Thursday, and other days are lighter. If you do meet Mark, be sure and buy him a beer at the BBQ or some other event, he deserves it.

  9. Yeah the original package you couldn't install is just a package that has nothing to it, except a dependency on the other packages. Sorta like a main release, made up of all the smaller releases. The new main release isn't made every time a smaller release is made, but instead once a significant number of updates have been made. It looks like it's been a while since there was a new release, so attached is a VIPC that should contain the updated versions. Note that the packages themselves are included, so internet is needed to get the packages if they don't exist in your cache already. OpenG 7-30-15.vipc

  11. Bolder Software will be in attendance again this year, we're looking forward to it! Traditionally, we like to encourage creativity as much as the technical appetite of this audience. Our door prize will be the LEAP Motion Controller: http://www.leapmotion.com/product/desktop Also, if we can get it done by next week, we're hoping to bring something edible for everyone. (Not that kind, just some sugar cookies!)

  18. Protip: attend Challenge the Champions in the Tech Theatre during the Block Diagram party on Tuesday nite -- there, you will find dozens of people headed to the BBQ. I'll email the moderator of that event to make an announcement to help facilitate BBQ-goers find each other in order to share cabs or walk together in droves. See you there!

  19. Well with the password cracking thing, I can understand not wanting it to be posted here, as that can actually theoretically cause harm to companies that rely on the password protection to hide code. My opinion on the matter is that they were asking for it by relying on such an insecure system, but I understand if some people don't share my opinion. Same with the thread about enabling native XNode development that I posted with the admin's permission (and later changed my mind about and had removed after seeing what a negative response it was getting) just because of the kind of program you use to perform the hack. As for this, however, it's not really stuff that could in any way hurt the reputation of the forums, or harm NI or anyone else. I'm just trying to find and expose stuff that NI didn't see fit to release for one reason or another, but that advanced users might like to play around with outside of important work. For science. (You monster.)
