  4. QUOTE (orko @ Dec 9 2008, 04:58 PM) PS: we have a LabVIEW complexity metric that we use too
  5. QUOTE (orko @ Dec 9 2008, 03:16 PM) That article says: "National Instruments compared the number of LabVIEW nodes used to the equivalent C SLOC and found there was roughly a one-to-one relationship between LabVIEW nodes and SLOC." That's a big call without any supporting data. I'm not saying that it's not true for a particular code size, but I'd like to see some correlational data before I'd beleive that. PS: that article is titled "Estimating Code Complexity in LabVIEW" - IMHO, complexity and code size are two very different things. I think tying to tie SLOC to complexity is inappropriate. Complexity isn't size - it's, errrrrr, complexity.
  6. A LabVIEW success story! Thanks for coming back and letting us know how it went.
  7. QUOTE (Justin Goeres @ Dec 9 2008, 01:08 PM) You were - I just haven't uploaded those ones, out of good taste.
  8. QUOTE (Norm Kirchner @ Dec 9 2008, 10:23 AM) Wow! Austin's Coyote Ugly NI-Week 2007, if I'm not mistaken... In fact, it was just a few minutes before this one was taken:
  9. QUOTE (Aristos Queue @ Dec 9 2008, 11:04 AM) Not that there's anything wrong with that...
  10. QUOTE (Michael_Aivaliotis @ Dec 9 2008, 03:51 AM) I sure hope those apps are perfectly functional - I'd be pretty pissed off if I got that app and found out the developer spent so much time on the UI and not enough time on the functionality. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should Info about how to create intuative UIs here and here.
  11. QUOTE (Justin Goeres @ Dec 8 2008, 09:32 PM) She was a bot?!?!? Damn...
  12. QUOTE (jcarmody @ Dec 8 2008, 07:47 PM) LOL (and I mean it - I actually did!) QUOTE (normandinf @ Dec 8 2008, 07:21 PM) I can see you're a Star Wars fan... Actually, I was thinking of the Vogon in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and The Daleks in Dr. Who...
  13. QUOTE (Michael_Aivaliotis @ Dec 8 2008, 06:05 PM) Is anyone else gonna take that one, or should I?
  14. QUOTE (Jim Kring @ Dec 8 2008, 06:53 PM) Resistance is useless.
  15. QUOTE (Aristos Queue @ Dec 8 2008, 03:04 PM) God's a bot?!?! How deliciously Matrix!
  16. QUOTE (Norm Kirchner @ Dec 8 2008, 03:54 PM) Don't be scared my child, you've ascended you to the group. QUOTE (Ton @ Dec 8 2008, 04:08 PM) How do the Google Adds look?
  17. QUOTE (Justin Goeres @ Dec 8 2008, 08:47 AM) I appreciate it.
  18. QUOTE (asbo @ Dec 8 2008, 10:31 AM) It's what I do.
  19. QUOTE (BobHamburger @ Dec 7 2008, 03:39 PM) Become the state machine, have it be an extension of your self, and you an extension of it. Once you are truly at one with the state machine, you have begun travelling down the long path towards even better architectural design patterns... PS: to avoid confusion here, what most people are referring to is a "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finite_state_machine' rel='nofollow' target="_blank">finite state machine". Understand the theory first, then take a look at the templates that come with LabVIEW (they're in the "Getting Started" screen).

  21. QUOTE (asbo @ Dec 7 2008, 04:57 PM) Have a look at http://forums.lavag.org/Node-count-versus-SLOC-t3632.html' target="_blank">this.
