Labview 2012 SP1?

Has anyone heard when Labview 2012 SP1 will be released and what new things will be in it?  I think that the SP1 releases have occurred in February for the last 2 or 3 years.

They are in the February/March time frame.  So I would it should be out within a month or so.

 

There shouldn't be anything new in it.  Just major bug fixes.

Note:  For some reason when I loaded the downloads page it did not appear, but searching 2012 and then clicking Clear All fixed this.  Maybe something's cached funny with the browser.

After upgrading first to SP1, then immediately applying fix 1 - LabVIEW is no longer able to run without crashing with an access violation:

 

"Access violation (0xC0000005) at EIP=0x00EFD480"

 

A common/known issue, or was I just "lucky"?

the SP1 that is on the Update Service is supposed to include f1, did you download SP1 manually or use the auto update?

I did a manual download and did not experience the crash.  It seems that Muds just has a bad day ...

I installed from the downloaded versions of SP1 and the patch and do not have a problem.  Note: I had not installed LabVIEW 2012 before installing LabVIEW 2012 SP1.

I've tracked down the crash that came after upgrading to 2012 SP1(f1); it is caused by an add-on installed with VIPM.

 

Clearing user.lib on its own did not fix it, neither did moving things out of the project folder. But when I removed the add-ons from vi.lib the crash stopped. The funny thing though is that if I then just put back the stuff from user.lib the crash returned.

 

So maybe there are multiple items crashing LabVIEW (both in user.lib and the other places)...I'll do some more digging.

Rule of thumb for both LV and MS Windows: never install before SP1 unless you really need it.

I have.  I'm not sure when I got it though because I just downloaded SP1 when it come out, and just recently noticed a pack of DVDs with the SP1 release.

I rescind my previous statement. It seems the SP1 download does not include the f1 fix (although it says it does in the Update application).

 

SP1 version from Update: 12.0.1

SP1 verfion after F1 patch: 12.0.1F1

No crash for me installing the F1 patch though.

In general if you are installing a LabVIEW service pack through Update Service and there are existing f patches for that service pack, they will be automatically installed with the service pack. In this case the f1 patch was not installed because it has been taken down temporarily.

Speaking of which, just in case there are others of you out there who have 64-bit systems, and have always downloaded the LV installation packages from the web...

 

The DVDs that NI sends out do *not* have the 64-bit IDE.  If you use the DVDs, you will get a 32-bit install, even on a 64-bit system.  With no apparent warnings -- other than the fact it asks if you want to install into "Program Files (x86)".  Yes, I just learned this one the hard way.

 

Go here to kudo an idea to add the 64-bit IDE to the Platform DVDs.
